DARK MUSE PRESS

Author Process Statement

AUTHOR PROCESS STATEMENT

Filed in the Dark Muse Press Archive

I. Origin of Work

All works published under Dark Muse Press are conceived, drafted, and authored by Robin Trent.

Each manuscript begins as:

  • handwritten notes, outlines, or concept sketches
  • developed into structured drafts within Scrivener
  • expanded through iterative revision by the author

Narrative voice, thematic development, and stylistic execution are human-authored and originate solely from the writer.

II. Development Process

Each work proceeds through the following stages:

  1. Concept Formation
Worldbuilding, thematic design, and narrative architecture
  2. Primary Drafting
Full manuscript written by the author
  3. Structural Revision
Refinement of pacing, tone, and narrative clarity
  4. Language Refinement
Line-level editing for rhythm, diction, and atmosphere
  5. Final Proofing
Formatting, typographic alignment, and publication preparation

Draft histories and revisions are maintained as part of the archival process.

III. Use of Tools

Dark Muse Press may employ digital tools in a limited and supportive capacity, including:

  • spelling and grammar correction
  • formatting assistance
  • brainstorming support
  • technical production workflows

These tools do not generate final narrative content and are not used as substitutes for authorship.

All creative decisions, prose, and narrative structures remain the work of the author.

IV. Editorial Integrity

Where external editors are engaged:

  • Edits are reviewed, accepted, or rejected by the author
  • Final language reflects the author’s intent and voice
  • No third party is permitted to replace or generate substantive narrative content

V. Archival Record

Dark Muse Press maintains:

  • draft files
  • revision histories
  • development notes

These materials serve as a record of authorship and creative progression.

VI. Statement of Authorship

Each published work represents the direct creative labor of its author.

Dark Muse Press affirms that its publications are:

  • intentionally written
  • stylistically controlled
  • and produced through a documented creative process

✦ On Closing

In an age of uncertain authorship, we believe the work should still bear the mark of the hand that made it.
