Robin Trent

Inspiring Novelist

Robin Trent is a creator of richly atmospheric worlds where Victorian history, gothic mystery, and faery lore interlace like strands of gold and shadow. As the author of Moonshine and the evolving Faery Tale series, along with the haunting Victorian Gothic mysteries, Robin is known for crafting stories that blend meticulous historical detail with a lyrical, immersive sense of magic. Their novels invite readers into places where the gaslamps gutter, spirits whisper in forgotten rooms, and the boundary between the living and the unseen grows perilously thin.

From an early age, Robin was drawn to the uncanny corners of storytelling — old legends, dusty archives, ghost tales told by lamplight, and the strange beauty of history’s darker edges. This fascination grew into a lifelong passion for research, folklore, and the peculiar charm of Victorian England. Whether exploring real historical events or imagining entire realms hidden just out of sight, Robin approaches each story with a blend of scholarly curiosity and creative wonder.

Robin’s work is often described as cinematic, character-driven, and emotionally resonant. She is particularly drawn to themes of identity, fate, found family, and the cost of secrets. Each book reflects a belief that the past is never truly silent — its echoes shape every step we take, and sometimes, if we listen closely, it speaks back.

When not writing, Robin can frequently be found digging into obscure research, wandering through antique shops and archives, or scribbling down new ideas that arrive unannounced. A lover of folklore, myth, and all things gothic, Robin delights in transforming the ephemeral and the otherworldly into stories that linger long after the final page.

Above all, Robin Trent writes to invite readers into worlds where wonder is real, darkness has its own beauty, and magic can be found in the most unexpected places. Her work continues to grow, expanding into new series, new mysteries, and new corners of the fantastical — always with an open door for readers who wish to step inside.

Writing

Probably my favorite thing to do. I love writing and attending workshops about writing. I don't think you can ever stop learning and improving.

Reading

I have been reading all my life, whether for entertainment or to learn something. My favorite genres are fantasy/sci-fi/gothic. Favorite authors are: Charles de Lint, Kurt Vonnegut Jr., and Anne Rice.

Drawing

I have been doing some form of art for as long as I can remember. I have found joy in the simple art of pencil sketching, whether graphite or colored pencils. I find it relaxes me and reduces stress.

Computer Software

I think I will always be a geek at heart. I love to get a hold of a new piece of software and learn how to use it, as can be seen by my writing tools.

Movies

I love movies, especially the old classics. I think that's because I used to watch the old classic black and white movies as a kid with my mom. It reminds me of her. I also enjoy modern movies such as Lord of the Rings, Crimson Peak and the Woman in Black.

Music

I listen to anything and everything. I am pretty eclectic in my tastes and it all depends on what mood I am in. I grew up in the 60s, 70s and 80s. I still think we had the best music.

When I write, I feel like an armless, legless man with a crayon in his mouth.
